Welcome everyone to my little space on the web -- Another World. What began as a small blog for my daily rants, Another World currently houses many of my designs accumulated over the years. Beginning with Crystal-Tearz.net, I went under the alias of Illusions and started my hobby as a web designer. Of course, my designs at the time were mediocre and my HTML was limited. Fast forward to Seventh-Night.Net, the domain became completely coded in PHP thanks to the help of tutorial sites such as Daydream Graphics and Crystal Kiss. At last the site came to an end. I soon lost interest in the web design community and went on hiatus for a year and a half before returning with what you see today: Another World. Please enjoy your visit and don't hesitate to drop a shout out or e-mail me some constructive criticism. It will always be appreciated.

Irvine Weather -_____-
Trekking back from San Jose to Irvine made me realize how much I miss my hometown weather. As September comes to a close, I can remember the crisp leaves and brisk mornings as I walked toward my high school. Contrast that with the painful rays of the sun on the sunny streets of Irvine. The temperature is literally like that of a sauna. I cannot stress enough the importance of wearing sunscreen to protect from the likes of skin cancer, especially when I would be walking to and from class everyday in the afternoons. Is it so much to ask the city of Irvine to PLEASE get with the program. HELLOOOOOOOO it's the fall -___- I want to wear my fall clothes already crying
All and all, classes have been relaxing so far. It's a good thing as I am still trying to get back into my mojo. There is just a little bit of reading and writing homework that I have to get started on, but as long as there is still time to run to the arc and work out for a few hours I am set ^^ I have seen a lot of my friends here in school and a special few of my favorite ones. Unfortunately, it's difficult to hang out together because of different schedules and the fact that we can't eat much with each other anymore without the meal plan. Now many people just bring their own lunches or take a ride back on the shuttle to their apartment to grab lunch instead. In truth, I've been so lazy to cook (sans the two times for dinner) that I have given to cutting avocado and eating it with bread and smoked salmon. MmmmmMmm..that does sound good right about now.

I wish there were cute guys in my class =(

Summer's Ending
I want to apologize for not updating the entire summer. There are no excuses for my laziness however there is much to tell about my future endeavors. With the economy as it is today, it is difficult to find jobs. As the saying goes, "Those who are beggars cannot be choosers," I myself am trying to apply for jobs that I've never dreamed of doing. (Just kidding, I'm still as picky as ever ^0^) I managed to find 2 job openings on my school campus: Administrative Assistant and a Guinea Pig at one of the research labs which I applied for respectively. Now you guys are probably wondering what does an assistant have to do with my major or A GUINEA PIG!?!?! ARE YOU CRAZY?

1. I'll be serving as an assistant to the OIT (Organization of Information & Technology) which consists of NACS (The computer support team at UCI), EEE (The people in charge of the program and site that maintains all the scheduling) and errr...yeah o___o more people. The requirements for the job were simple. All I had to know were word, excel and PowerPoint. A few extras they would ave love for me to have were HTML, some PHP, CSS, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator..and others which I have little experience in. Still, I have an advantage. There is only one opening for this job and they emailed me yesterday to complete a survey so they would have an idea of my personality. All and all, PLEASE LET ME GET THIS JOB!!!!

2. The pay is $200 after 6 weeks. Which makes it to 33 dollars a week. This doesn't seem much, but any extra cash is welcome! I need to buy clothes T.T Also the study is to find how different simulators to the brain affects right arm movement. The goal of this study is to find an aid to stroke patients who have lost mobility in their arms. I don't mind taking pills that stimulates my brain. Who knows, maybe it'll help me do better in school yeah!?!?!?!

---Intermission--

--End Intermission--

So my friend Jessica and I have been working on art projects together since we first met in Valdez in the summer before freshman year in high school began. We started off small with a 3D model of a plant cell and coloring the diagrams in a poster in 9th grade bio and moved on to a full on operating website for our school based company. My favorite project was when we made props for a class play in English. The balcony with the green vines was so realistic, as was the fireplace and piano =D

If it's one thing I learned with collaborating with so many people in college was that I worked with her the best. She understands design much better than i do (there are times when I make fun of her website layouts. A banner, Links of the left side, and iframe on the right and a bottom ^0^) However they turned out very well in the end.

Being in two different schools on the opposite ends of California, it's unfortunate that there will be no more class projects for us to work on...or is there?

While I was doing some research for internship opportunities at large companies, I stumbled upon a few competitions, two of which stood out to me. The first which I'm most excited about is the Disney Imagination competition. The premise of this contest is storyline. Every attraction, restaurant, theme park revolves around a story and the contestants are given an opportunity to create a story of their own that will attract Disney guests. Too bad I ave to wait until I'm a junior. Another competition is the Adobe Design contest. Contrary to its name, the contest isn't purely artistic. There are also categories for those people who made web applications for the sole purpose of furthering artistic advancements. One guy made an app that compared two books in chronological time. what happens in one book at 12:00pm will be compared to another book at the same of different time. Note that the books to be compared should be like that of William Shakespeare's sonnet 18 and 130. The interface is beautiful.

I am not at liberty to speak any plans for any of these projects. best to just keep them secret until entry day ^^

Honestly, this has been my favorite summer of all. I got to do so many things that I wasn't able to do summers before this. I don't think I'll go back to school with any regrets, except maybe I should have been practicing programming more -___________-

The Secret
While I was reading the secret today, I was reminded of my High School teacher Mr. Wong. He was always positive and grateful for what life has given him and he made it his mission to teach is as well. One of his lessons that has always stuck with me was a paper he passed out on the topic of maturity:
----------------
Maturity is many things. First it is the ability to base judgment on the Big Picture—the Long Hauli. It means being able to pass up the fun-for-the-minute and select the course of action that will pay off later. One of the characteristics of infancy is the I-want-it-NOW approach. Grown up people are able to wait.

Maturity is the ability to stick with a project or a situation until it is finished. The person who is constantly changing jobs, changing friends, and changing mates is immature. Everything seems to turn sour after awhile.

Maturity is the ability to face unpleasantness, frustration, discomfort, and defeat without complain or collapse. The mature person knows he can’t have everything his own way. Nobody wins ‘em all. He is able to defer to circumstances, to other people—and to time.

Maturity means doing what is expected of you, and this means being dependable. It means keeping your word. Bound in with dependability is personal integrity. Do you mean what you say—and say what you mean?

The world is filled with people who can’t be counted on. They are never around in a crisis. They break promises and substitute alibis for performance. They show up late—or not at all. They are confused and disorganized. Their lives are a maze of unfinished business. Such behavior suggests a lack of self-discipline—which is a large part of maturity.

Maturity is the ability to make a decision and stick with it, riding out the storms that may follow. This requires clear thinking. And the courage to stand by your position once you’ve taken it.

Immature people spend a lifetime exploring possibilities and then doing nothing. Action requires courage. And courage means maturity.

Maturity is the ability to harness your abilities and your energies to do more than is expected. The mature person refuses to settle for mediocrity. He would rather aim high and miss the mark than aim low—and make it.
------------
Even after a year, this lesson still hits me. I have a lot to learn because in many cases I am still immature. Like promised in my last post, I was going to talk about creeper #2. Instead of going off and ranting about my encounter with him, I am going to take a page of advice from the book and from Mr. Wong and list out the good things that I am grateful for from meeting him.

He is a sweet 16 year old who was the first person that I was grateful to see on my second day of class. He was my first conversation and talking to him opened many doors for me in the class to meet and interact with others. Though he is slow at learning and has problems articulating his thoughts, helping him in class helped me understand the material better. Because of him, I was able to talk to the handsome student sitting right beside him, even though it was just for a few moments. When I say handsome, I mean that he was intelligent, gave off that bad boy vibe, was buff had a deep voice and a humorous personality. laughing

Summer 09 begins!
It is currently week 4 of my summer break and everything has been productive as ever. I am trying to stay active and stay out of my house as much as possible while still continuing my endeavor for lighter skin! Right now I am attending summer classes at Mission College from 6pm - 9pm. Originally I was slated to attend from 3pm -9pm but the lab became optional so I never attend wink

Recently two of my friends from Southern California came up to visit. Cindy and I took them to San Francisco, Redwood City for Mike's Birthday Party, Livermore for peddle boating and a BBQ and to downtown San Jose. La Vic's was AMAZING. My mouth is still watering for that orange sauce someday smile I got to see two movies with them, Year One (HILARIOUS) and Public Enemy (OMGAH, Johnny Depp is a sexy man <3 ) My favorite part of their visit was seeing Cindy's wonderful dogs Gigi and Bubbles. Bubbles is more obedient and is a bit lazy. All she does is lays (I want to say lies, but I'm not sure if that is the correct term T.T) down and waits to be rubbed and petted. Gigi is a big more hyper and more aggressive of the two and has this extreme habit of licking everything. My poor jeans and arms were wet after a few of her licks. Bubbles is definitely my favorite angry

I have to say that the best part of my summer was seeing my darling Jessica and Crystal again at Cataldi. We took a few pictures together after the get together and Jessica walked me home! Aw she is just too sweet! We had this fun conversation about perverts on public transportation. In addition to her experience, I have one my own encounters at my community college. They weren't perverts per se, one one of them is pretty stalker-ish?

Creeper #1
On my first day of class, I completely forgot that there was no lab since I haven't attended lecture yet. (DUH! It was the same way in Irvine crying) So I called my dad to come and pick me up because there was no way that I was going to wait for 3 hours until my next class. I was standing in the parking lot and a caucasion male walked up to me. I would say that he's 5'10" 5'11" with dirty blonde hair. He looked as if he were in his mid twenties and VERY similar to Tobey from the office (BTW, I <3 Tobey! I feel so bad for him sometimes on the show wink and I love Jim more ). Anyways I guess I fell for his pick up line because he walked up to me asking me if we knew each other because I looked familiar. I gave him a look of confusion as he apologized and asked for my name. We exchanged greetings and I learned that his name was Brian. He went to San Jose State (not sure if he graduated or not) and was taking weightlifting classes at the college. Apparently he also played base ball! We talked for a while and he asked if I wanted to have lunch with him. Lucky for me, my parents just arrived and I declined. Instead, he asked for my number. Ok Ok!!! I know that I could have said no or lied but I was in a panic, and I was bound to run into him the next time so I gave him my real number >.< The next day, he called and asked him if I had time before class so we can meet at the theaters and go get some Jamba Juice. At this point, I was already running late to class and well he wasn't really all that cute anyways but I'm not one to completely cut him off so I decided to meet him before class started to see if we did have chemistry with each other. I don't know how to describe it but this guy...he's really greasy wassat I had a small chat with him and asked him about his day. His answer?

My day was good, but it just got a whole lot better

...excuse me? I believe this was a you had to be there sort of situation because the way he said it was creepy, the way he looked at me while saying that is creepy, and please don't step closer to me when you say that >.< Basically I gave him an awkward laugh and told him that I had to be running off to class. This won't be the last time that I'll be hearing from him. he proceeded to text me day after day asking me out to dinner and calling me both under a private number and his actual number (you guys should look to trapcall to help reveal the people behind those anonymous numbers smile). I kind of got sick of it and texted him the following:

"I don't know if you got the wrong idea or not, but I am not looking for a relationship right now. I think it's best if you were to look elsewhere within your own age range"

Yes I said that! Had to be nice with a subtle mean-ness. I don't think it worked because he still calls and leaves voice mails. I don't think I'm acting immature because we were never friends to begin with and I don't see myself being friends with him in the future. I'm just here for community college and I already have friends who I adore and want to invest my time in. 6 words: I could care less about you. ( I would say more but I might come off as a female dog. Lol Wendy tells me that I brought SoCal with me...just the mean/blunt part). Now I'm just blocking/ screening his calls until he stops =D

I'll will talk about the 2nd guy in my next post. Ciao!!!

Mistress
Most of my close friends such call me Thannie, but my most common online alias is illusions. I am currently a junior in high school and reside in the golden state of California. I have been webdesigning for about 3 years total. Although my skills aren't so great, I am hoping to improve over the course of the year. I just love lillies and strawberries, but can be easily bribed my sweets. I love shopping, reading and sleeping. The stuffed animals in my room, as well as my blanky, are the most treasured (though my parents are persuading me to give some away). I currently/might always dislike oranges, scary insects/ bugs and Monday Mornings.
